Sorry, that doesn't work...

Tom Friedman says we can't solve the problem of Iran or North Korea, claiming only the EU and China can handle it. China announced it will refuse to place sanctions on North Korea. Joseph Cirincione says bombing Iran won't work.

So... we've determined that the world is very good at taking options off the table.

In all honesty what are our options? Just as a fun thought exercise, I'll give a shot at laying out suggested solutions for Iran first, without judging the solutions.
  • Accept Iran has nuclear weapons.
  • Take the issue to the UNSC.
  • Cut a deal to provide materials for nuclear power with UN monitoring.
  • Don't allow nuclear power with UN inspections.
  • Reestablish diplomatic relations.
  • Push for internal opposition to create a regime change.
  • Push for the opposition to win the upcoming elections.
  • Press the EU to threaten and commit to sanctions.
  • Tactical bombing of nuclear sites.
  • Allow Israel or other nation to tactically bomb sites.
  • Establish a no-fly zone as punishment for building weapons.
  • Provide nukes or other weapons to nearby countries to counter Iranian weapons.
  • Invasion and regime change (unilateral or multilateral).
  • Drop a preemptive nuclear weapon.
  • Ignore the problem and hope it goes away
Am I missing anything? I don't care how ridiculous the idea is (and I'm up for hearing funny conspiracy theories).
