Hurricane Emily has slammed into the Yucatan peninsula, hitting coastal resorts including Cancun and Cozumel, and will be continuing on to mainland Mexico.
Thousands of tourists were forced to take shelter. However, in the end, the tourist resorts will recover and rebuild if they have to. The question is what happens to the tens of thousands of homes of Mexicans living near the tourist resorts. Those won't receive the major media coverage, but because of poor foundations they'll be hit the hardest and they'll have the most difficult time rebuilding.
