In what could be a first, blogger Enteratehoy interviews Mexican President Vicente Fox about the upcoming election, his term in office and the recent scandal involving Noticias de Oaxaca. (Hat Tip to Goleech.)
Normally, I'd say something like this is a scam, but it looks legitimate and Fox's answers look like how he would actually answer the questions. If you read Spanish, it's a good read.
Other Mexico stuff. The LA Times has an article on Mexico City mayor Lopez Obrador, who is stepping down to run full time for president. The Arizona Republic has a good article about Mexico's immigration problem; South and Central Americans travel into Mexico with the hope of going to the US. El Universal (in English) covers the recent violence along the border and says the UNDP is getting involved in making suggestions for combating the insecurity in Mexico. As my friend MH would note: "Oh good, a panel of experts."

It certainly looks legitimate, but there isn't any mention of the interview at all in the Mexican media. Plus, if the interview were true, comments should be coming in like wildfire. I think it's a hoax or I'd link to it for Global Voices. I've checked all the major Mexican weblogs and no mention.
I just emailed Eduardo of ALT1040 ... he should be able to get to the bottom of it pretty quick.
There are comments on the side rather than in the entry. At the same time, I agree that it's odd the Mexican media and other blogs did not pick it up. If it's a hoax, I got fooled.

Al parecer el autor del sitio o uno de los autores tiene un blog
[enteratehoy.blogspot.com] y ha publicado exáctamente lo mismo, sólo
que modificando y poniendo que la entrevista es a un blog. Me huele
raro, de hecho por eso no he publicado nada, me impido a mi mismo
publicar cosas de las cuales no me siento seguro aún cuando son
atractivas.
Mario A. Campos Cortés es un periodista tradicional, escribe para el
Etcétera de México (periódico de dudosa reputación) y no quiero
adelantarme a nada, pero esto me huele a manipulación mediática
aprovechando el "momentum" de la palabra blog.

It's funny how the media is now resorting to using the word "blog" to get more readership.
No I'll leave the comment for clarification sake. This is an interesting story to follow up on.
For those who don't read Spanish, the basic jist of the message is that the owner of that "blog" is actually a journalist with a less than credible news outlet. The same interview was printed on the official news site, and it looks like he transfered it to his blog in an attempt to give it some extra buzz. While the interview may or may not be real, either way the "interview with a blogger" seems a mis-characterization.
I have read comments by Mario Campos (the author of the blog and site of enteratehoy.com.mx) in ALT1040.com by Eduardo Arcos (one of the first LA bloggers, therefore obsessed with the 'correct' defintion of a weblog).
One thing is true: Mario Campos is a professional journalist, he writes for Milenio. But he claims that the interview was requested as a blogger, not as a journalist of Milenio:
"¿cómo la conseguí? La pedí a comunicación social (por supuesto, no a Vicente Fox) y les expliqué qué era un blog, vendiéndoles la idea de que sería la primera en el mundo con un blog, y me la compraron.
Después de mes y medio me avisaron que me podían recibir. La entrevista, en efecto, se pidió para el blog y sólo se publicó en ese espacio."
The controversy on the mexican blogosphere is whether his site enteratehoy.com.mx is a blog. Mario Campos says it is a blog, but Eduardo Arcos says its not...
