Voters need a campaign

Back when Mexico's absentee voter law passed in a rush, it appears that the PRI-led Congress never reformed the law so that Mexican candidates can campaign abroad. AMLO was going to travel to Los Angeles last weekend, but had to cancel his trip at the last minute. I agree with the LA Times, the regulations are useless and Mexican voters here in the states deserve the opportunity to see the candidates. After all, if the Mexican military received positive coverage and a warm reception when they delivered aid, the candidates campaigning here should be equally welcome by voters on both sides of the border.

UPDATE: And with over one million American retirees in Mexico (and growing), American politicians may soon find it worth their while to campaign south of the Rio Grande.
