Free speech in Tunisia

During the UN WSIS in Tunisia, a separate "citizen's summit" is occurring on on the internet, human right and Expression under Repression. They were harassed by police, rumors threatened of their arrest, and in the end they held the conference to a standing room only crowd. One of the great things they are doing is highlighting how the internet is censored in Tunisia, and then showing people ways to circumvent the filters.

Global Voices links to many of the bloggers involved. Also see Ethan Zuckerman's comments here and here. The head of Reporters Without Borders was denied entry to the country. Other reporters have been roughed up.

The intimidation and censorship that is occurring even while the UN is in town demonstrates exactly why this conference is so important. Congrats to every person involved.
