Ok, it really wasn't funny this time. I booked a room at the Airport Holiday Inn. I had reservations, confirmation number, etc. I get to the hotel at 10PM only to have them say that they are overbooked. So they say they'll shuttle me to the Holiday Inn in South Beach where they'll put me up for the night (25 minutes from where I need to be).
We get to the South Beach Holiday Inn at 11:15 only to find out that they are also overbooked. They blame the first Holiday Inn. Rather than solve the problem, they get on the phone with the first hotel and argue for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, I called 20 other hotels in Miami and Miami Beach before I finally found one with an open room. Then, before I could book it, my cell phone lost its signal and hung up on the hotel.
Eventually, Holiday Inn found an open room in Miami Beach at a rather sketchy hotel (with no internet) and paid for a cab over there. I got to the hotel at 12:30 and was asleep around 1AM. Then up at 4:15 so that I could get to another hotel near the airport early and steal internet from the hotel lobby before my 6:30 breakfast meeting.
Now I have a few minutes between meetings to get on the computer and vent on my blog. Thanks for reading.
Due to travel, normal Thursday afternoon Latin America poll numbers won't be up until sometime tomorrow. One thing I can tell you now. My disapproval rating of a certain hotel chain has increased.
