Happy Groundhog Day
When discussing holidays in Latin America, I almost always ask whether people celebrate Groundhog Day. They have no clue what I'm talking about.
I then say, "You know that movie with Bill Murray where the day keeps repeating over and over again?" and they suddenly remember. They've all seen the movie at some point on TV.
No point to the story other than to note that the spread of American culture really does allow us to have the most random conversations with people around the world and still have them understand. This probably doesn't prevent them from thinking gringos are strange.
