On Friday, protesters managed to
block Mexican President Fox from delivering his annual state of the nation speech. Contrary to some in the media, I see this as a positive development for ending the current round of protests. As mentioned in a
previous post, Lopez
Obrador's first job is to end the protests cleanly while saving some face. As he transitions to a new form of opposition, he is going to need to point to some of these small wins in order to justify to his supporters why they protested for several months and what those nights in tents accomplished.
