Update on US-Colombia security agreement 3
The agreement was signed late last week. As promised, the Colombian government published the full text of the agreement. You can download the PDF in Spanish from El Tiempo; JTF has the English version on their website.
It contains everything from the major issues (use of bases, respect for sovereignty of neighboring countries, diplomatic immunity) to the banal (US driver's licenses are valid for driving vehicles on base; US troops can receive mail without using the Colombian postal system).
Now that the agreement is published, I'm interested to know if UNASUR has a process to review the text. This agreement was the subject of at least two heated meetings in August and September of this year. It would seem logical that they would do something now that the text is public, right?
