POLL NUMBERS!!! Latin America vs climate change

BBC and Globescan ran a poll of three questions in 23 countries, including five in Latin America, about climate change and the Copenhagen summit.

Percent saying climate change or global warming, due to the Greenhouse Effect, is a "serious problem.": Brazil 86%, Chile 86%, Costa Rica 83%, Mexico 81%, Panama 72%.

Should your country play a leadership role in setting ambitious targets to address climate change as quickly as possible? Chile 54%, Brazil 53%, Mexico 38%, Costa Rica 37%, Panama 25%.

Do you support or oppose the government making investments to address climate change even if this hurts the economy? Mexico 71%, Chile 67%, Brazil 62%, Costa Rica 60%, Panama 60%.

Latin America's answers averaged significantly higher than those in other regions of the world. I was particularly surprised by the numbers willing to act at the potential short term cost to their economy.
